Why PT Solutions

About the Program

Accredited by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE) through 2025, the neurologic residency program is 12 months long, starting and finishing the last week of August.

In partnership with the St. Vincent Evansville & University of Evansville Neurologic Residency Program, the program aims to develop exceptional, passionate, and persevering physical therapists dedicated to excellent care of the body, mind and spirit of individuals served. It is our vision that residents will serve as leaders in the field of neurologic physical therapy, advancing the profession by facilitating the translation of evidence to clinical practice using measurement as a guide to the systematic application and assessment of interventions. The program strives to create a supported learning environment that encourages lifelong professional growth beginning with the residency and continuing throughout the entire career in the areas of patient care, teaching, mentoring, research, and community engagement and outreach

Why PT Solutions

A Look Inside: A Typical Week as a Neurologic Resident

  • 32-36 hours of patient care with rotations in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient rehabilitation
  • 4 hours of one-on-one clinical mentorship with qualified residency mentor (inclusive of regular patient care hours)
  • 6 hours of education with the Institute of Knowledge Translation (didactic residency partner)
  • 4 hours of teaching in entry level DPT program at the University of Evansville (Spring)
  • 2 hours of service with the University of Evansville's pro-bono group exercise class (ACErcise)

Residents in the Neurologic Residency Program actively engage in clinical research including case study completion and meaningful contribution to a novel or current knowledge translation project. The program's work has been showcased at prominent events including the APTA Combined Sections Meeting, the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy Annual Conference and the Indiana APTA Fall Conference.

Salary

Residents in the neurologic residency program are salaried at 100% of an experienced-matched non-resident peer with no additional tuition or fees.

Applications are submitted through RF-PTCAS with a deadline of February 1st.

Requirements include the submission of:
  • CV/Resume
  • Transcripts
  • Minimum of two letters of recommendation
  • Two essay questions regarding your interest in residency programming and professional goals
